Selection

Team Rynkeby will cycle to Paris from 3rd to 10th July 2027. The journey will take eight days.

Application

You can take part as a rider or a support person. You can read more about it here.

For both roles, you need to complete an application form, which you can find right here.

The teams are assembled by the local team captains. They endeavour to create a diverse team with a good mix across gender, age and professional backgrounds. You will typically receive a response to your application within a week after the application deadline.

If your application is unsuccessful, you are more than welcome to apply again for the next season.

To participate in Team Rynkeby, you must be at least 18 years old. However, there is no upper age limit.

The application window for the upcoming season closes at the end of August, and all applicants will receive direct notification shortly after the deadline.

Your application to join Team Rynkeby 2027 must be submitted by 31 August 2026.

To ensure your application stands out, focus on three key areas:

  • The heart behind your commitment. Honestly explain why you wish to dedicate your free time to making a difference for children with critical illnesses. Your motivation for the cause is the project's most vital fuel.

  • Your personal contributions to the team. A successful team thrives on a range of skills. Share how you can lend technical expertise to the bicycles, logistical insight in the support vehicles, cooking skills, social media communication, or simply be the morale booster that enhances the atmosphere during long training rides.

  • Support and network. The project spans ten months with numerous mandatory training hours and team gatherings. Demonstrate that your calendar and support system are in place to meet the commitment, and do mention if you have connections in the business community that could open doors for new sponsorship opportunities for fundraising.

You will receive a confirmation email once you have completed the application form. If you do not receive an email, please check if it has been caught in your spam filter or if you may have entered your email address incorrectly.

Contact us at support@team-rynkeby.com if you are still not receiving a confirmation for your application.

No, you do not automatically have a greater chance of being selected, even if you applied in a previous season. Each year, the selection process starts anew, and all applications are assessed individually and on an equal basis.

The local team captains put together the squad based on the individuals who have applied for that specific season. The aim is always to create the best and most harmonious match, ensuring a diverse and broad representation in terms of gender, age, and professional background.

If you were unsuccessful last time, don’t hesitate to apply again. Instead, you can use your new application to sharpen your case by placing extra emphasis on your motivation for the cause and outlining specifically what you can contribute to the team’s community.

Each application is assessed individually, so we cannot guarantee that you will be able to go together.

We strive to notify you within a week after the application deadline.

Participation

In the 2027/2028 season, it costs 25,258 DKK to be a cyclist with Team Rynkeby. If you join a Gravel team, the price will be 27,216 DKK.

The fee covers the bike, cycling kit, hotels, and meals.

Additional expenses may arise (typically between 2,000 and 5,000 DKK) for winter cycling gear, cycling shoes, sunglasses, training rides, ferry transport, extra nights, and return travel from Paris.

Support crew members pay 4,400 DKK to participate.

The short answer is no. You do not need to have completed sponsorship agreements in place to be selected for the team. Team Rynkeby operates on the principle that everyone contributes to the best of their ability. As our participants come from diverse backgrounds and networks, we deliberately do not set a fixed amount or specific business agreements as a requirement for individuals.

In return, we expect everyone on the team to be passionate about the cause and actively participate in the season's fundraising efforts. This can take many forms. Some have direct access to companies that wish to display a prominent logo on cycling kit, while others make a tremendous effort by organising local events, baking cakes for charity sales, or hosting smaller activities in their communities.

The journey to Paris is not a race against the clock, but rather a leisure cycling tour where community and social interaction take centre stage. The teams typically ride at an average speed of around 25-27 km/h, allowing everyone to participate. Nonetheless, the multiple daily stages on the open road require solid and focused preparation in the months leading up to departure.

We recommend that you aim to cycle approximately 2,500 kilometres – or the equivalent of over 125 hours of active training – during the autumn, winter, and spring.

A significant portion of this distance is built up through the team’s shared training rides, which kick off in the spring months. These many hours on the bike are not only about strengthening your legs but equally about getting your body accustomed to the long days in the saddle and achieving the right comfort while riding closely together in a large group.

As long as you have the determination to invest the necessary time in preparation, you can confidently seek a place on the team.

Local teams

You can view the complete team overview here.

Do not hesitate to apply if there isn't a team in your local area. We may be able to find a solution.

Every time Team Rynkeby expands and forms new teams, it is driven by local initiatives. Therefore, it's entirely possible that you could be part of starting a Team Rynkeby team in your local area. Contact the country manager at Team Rynkeby to discuss the possibilities.

Companies can form their own teams within our shared framework. With a corporate team, your organisation can take full ownership of its CSR efforts and demonstrate active social responsibility based on sound values.

You choose which employees, partners or customers you wish to invite on this charitable journey. A corporate team serves as a fantastic tool for internal team building, health promotion, and strengthening corporate culture, as everyone works towards a tangible, common goal.

Contact us if you are interested, and we can discuss the practical arrangements.

Equipment

All participants cycle on the official Team Rynkeby racing bike.

The bike is included in the package you purchase when you sign up for Team Rynkeby, and you are of course welcome to keep the bike afterwards. If you have a bike from previous years of participation, you are more than welcome to use that as well.

If you've never cycled before, you'll discover that there will be additional costs beyond the registration fee.

You will need items such as cycling shoes, sunglasses, and possibly some extra cycling clothing for both spinning and winter training. Additionally, there are likely to be expenses for bike maintenance.

Tour de Paris

The length of the tour depends on where you are cycling from.

The journey from Denmark to Paris is approximately 1,200 km long and takes place over seven stages. However, some teams will complete a prologue the day before the actual start, meaning they are cycling for a total of eight days.

The shortest stage is around 100 km, while the longest is about 200 km. The tour's length varies depending on the route taken by each team.

If you prefer to cycle less distance, we also have a 100-kilometre team, where the daily stages on the route to Paris are adjusted to a manageable level of a maximum of 100 kilometres per day.

The ride to Paris is not a race against the clock, but a recreational cycling journey where everyone can participate.

The teams typically ride at an average speed of around 25-27 km/h.

For practical and road safety reasons, the teams ride separately throughout the week.

As the project involves thousands of participants spread across various teams, riding in one large group would create hazardous situations and unnecessary congestion on the roads. Several teams begin their journeys from geographically nearby start cities, largely following the same routes towards the French capital.

Each team operates as an independent unit along the way, equipped with their own support vehicles, designated rest stops, and hotel accommodations. The ultimate shared highlight is when all the teams come together to celebrate their arrival in Paris.

Funding Model for Team Rynkeby

Although our participants volunteer their time and cover all personal expenses, there are costs involved in running an international charity project of this scale.

To enable the operation and development of the project, the Team Rynkeby Foundation has an agreement that a maximum of 12 per cent of the funds raised may be used for administrative purposes.

Team Rynkeby Foundation found that participants struggled to explain how the funding for the project’s core costs was distributed between Eckes-Granini and the organisations.

This was partly because, in several countries, the funding is divided among two or more organisations, and in some cases, the distribution of funds between the organisations varies.

At the same time, Team Rynkeby does not have the same expense budget year on year, which alters the need for co-financing from the organisations each year.

Therefore, there was a need for a simpler funding model that can be easily explained to volunteers, while also reflecting the project’s complexity. As a result, the board of the Team Rynkeby Foundation decided to change the funding model, allowing Team Rynkeby to use up to 12 percent of the funds raised to develop and manage the Team Rynkeby project for the benefit of the organisations.

Team Rynkeby Foundation has evolved from a small local cycling team into an international charity project.

Running and developing a project with thousands of participants and sponsors requires significant funding. This is more than Eckes-Granini can finance alone.

Therefore, the board of Team Rynkeby Foundation has entered into agreements with partners and the organisations that receive funds, ensuring that these organisations contribute to financing the project. The money is deducted from the total amount raised before it is donated to the organisations. We have compiled our central costs on this page.
